Beetroot For Energy, Endurance & Weight Management
How It Works
Did you know that beets a packed with just about every vitamin and nutrient the body needs? Beets are an amazing anti-inflammatory with health benefits for the heart, digestive system, and bones.
Lately, I've been taking advantage of beetroot's energy, endurance, and weight management benefits. The nitrates in beetroot help increase physical performance by increasing the energy and endurance level. In fact, many athletes have been known to consume beets in one form or another before an event or hard workout. The nitrates help our blood cells carry more oxygen, increasing our supply throughout the body and brain. The anti-inflammatory properties of beets help with muscle pain and soreness from an intense workout. The high fiber content can helps keep me feeling full, while the nutrients, vitamins, and water found in beets help promote a healthy daily diet.
Before each workout, I mix up a refreshing Berry Beet Smoothie. I alternate the mix of fruit at times but the results are always the same!
Berry Beet Smoothie
1 cup low fat milk
1 small beet (peeled and cut into 5-6 pieces)
1 cup frozen or fresh strawberries
1/2 cup frozen or fresh raspberries
1/2 cup frozen or fresh cherries
1/2 banana to thicken
Blend until smooth, pour, and enjoy!
