How It Works

Mix a teaspoon of baking soda with a few of drops of almond oil (enough to make it into a paste but not enough to make it runny). Use your finger or a q-tip, etc., to apply it to the blemish. Leave it on for a few hours or overnight and then rinse off with water.

If you don't have almond oil, you can do this with water but, in that case, don't leave it on for more than 20-30 minutes as it will dry out your skin. (The first time I tried this with water and left it on overnight – the next day the zit was gone but I had a red blotch in its place all morning because my skin was too dry.)

Story

I read about this zit-zapping paste in Adina Grigore's (amazing, life-changing) book Skin Cleanse and decided to give it a try when I saw a spot on my forehead. I couldn't believe how well it worked – my forehead was completely clear the next day. Before reading her book, I had used tea tree oil, apple cider vinegar or raw honey for spot treatment, and found all of those worked to varying degrees (ACV and honey more so than tea tree oil) but this baking soda paste is next level.
