How It Works

Once you’ve purchased fennel seeds you’re almost set!

I use a ratio of 1 teaspoon of fennel seeds to 1 cup of hot water. Simply place about 1 teaspoon of fennel seeds in a tea strainer or infuser then pour 1 cup of hot water over the seeds (or you can put the seeds directly in the water to steep if making a larger pot of tea). Steep the fennel seeds for 5-10 min. Then stain, sip and enjoy!

For a stronger tea, gently crushing about 1 teaspoon of fennel seeds. This will release more of the natural oils. I’ve used a mortar and pestle to crush the seeds but you can also use a plastic baggie and the flat side of a mallet or anything heavy. Once the seeds are gently crushed place in a tea strainer or infuser and allow to steep in 1 cup of hot water for 5-10 minutes.

To sweeten, add a bit of honey.

If you want to make things really easy you can purchase fennel seed tea bags or tea with fennel seed as the main herbal ingredient. My favorite is Stomach Ease by Yogi tea.

*** Note of Caution: Although, for most people drinking fennel seed tea is very healthy there are some potential side effects for some people.

Story

Since I can remember I’ve had stomach issues. Sometimes, it’s linked to stress or the foods I eat, but more often than not there is no particular reason for my feeling a bit nauseous, bloated and gassy. I’ve scoured the internet for helpful tips and one of the best remedies I’ve found is fennel seed tea. It’s become my go-to natural aid in helping my digestion and easing intestinal and stomach discomfort. It also has a surprising number of other health benefits, which is an added bonus!
