How It Works

When I feel winded during gritty, sweaty tennis matches, I follow the instructions on the bottle and allow five or six little chalky pills to dissolve under my tongue. It works instantly and helps me get my second wind or "extra gear" to continue playing. Before bed I take two magnesium citrate capsules with water.

Story

For years I had been getting through tennis matches by drinking "Recharge" which is like a sugar free Gatoraid. It has salts and minerals as its active ingredients. It was pretty good. My partner for twenty seven years used to get calf cramps in the second set, which improved my chances to beat him. I recommended Recharge to him and B complex. He was a prominent doctor, head of infectious disease and later worked for Gilead Pharmaceuticals. He poo-pooed anything I took that came from a health food store and we had some passionate arguments. One day, my daughter, Molly and I were in the local grocery and she spotted the Doctor in the aisle reading the ingredients of a bottle of Gatoraid. So...maybe arguing with him was not a total waste of time. But, even with the Recharge during the match, my feet used to cramp afterwards, especially during swimming, and sometimes bigger muscles like hamstrings would cramp when I went to bed. OUCH. I told my chiropractor and he gave me some cell salts to take home. They work for me. Also, at my wife's suggestion, I have added magnesium citrate, two capsules each night before sleeping. I sleep well and rarely experience a cramp.

I haven't tried magnesium citrate, but I take mineral cell salts before, during and after my Bikram yoga classes to avoid fatigue and nausea (and it works great!).

That's it, Heidi. The salts to prevent fatigue and nausea and the magnesium is to prevent cramping after.
