How It Works

Golden Milk is an Ayuvedic recipe that Yogi Bhajan shared with us many years ago. Kundalini Yogis drink a lot but up to now I had never tried. But recently I did a cleanse, and suggested to have some Golden milk after the cleanse to keep the liver in shape. So, I tried and loved it!!

It uses Turmeric paste so it has many health benefits like: helps clean the liver, great for skin, anti-oxidant, prevent heart disease, decrease knee pain, and of course Yummy!!!! Turmeric does not cure any disease but helps to keep our body to regain its own strength. There is a lot of research happening to better understand the healing properties of Turmeric! Check out here for National Center for Complementary and Integrative health.

For the Turmeric Paste:

½ Cup of spring water

¼ cup of turmeric powder

Cook for 8 min in medium low. Keep mixing. Be careful while cooking because Turmeric can stain. Also, add water if gets to dry. You can store in the refrigerator for about 1 week. I prefer store in a glass container.

For the Golden milk:

1 cup of Almond Milk, Oat Milk or regular milk (up to you). I love Oat Milk and Almond Milk.

½ of teaspoon Turmeric Paste. (Some people prefer less others more).

1 Cardamom pod smashed (optional)

Warm up the milk while mixing the turmeric past and cardamom pod for about 4 minutes in median low.

Some people put honey or maple syrup but my Oat milk is sweet enough, so I didn’t put anything.

After cooking, and once cools down a bit I added ¼ of teaspoon of UDO 369 oil. The recipe calls for raw Almond oil but any other healthy oil is fine.

I hope you enjoy!!!!
