How It Works

One of the biggest causes of pain is due to imbalances in, and compensations of, the musculoskeletal system. Simply put, people experience aches and pains due to either muscles not working correctly (muscular compensations) or bones being out of alignment (skeletal compensations). Since muscles are attached to bones, these two problems go hand-in-hand. For example, if muscles are not doing their job correctly due to postural imbalances, athletic overuse and/or neurological disorders, they can pull the skeleton out of alignment. Alternatively, if the skeleton is out of alignment due to trauma/injury, congenital deformities and/or aging, muscle function can be adversely affected.

One solutions to addressing musculoskeletal pain is the use of massage therapy. Here are just a few of the many ways massage eases pain:

  • Increases circulation—enables oxygen and other nutrients to reach vital muscles, tissues, and organs.
  • Reduces scar tissue and adhesions—improves the elasticity of muscles and other soft tissues.
  • Eliminates stored tension in muscles and allows muscles to relax.
  • Releases endorphins
  • Reduces lactic acid
  • Stimulates muscle repair—increases activity in mitochondria, the powerhouses in cells that are involved in cell repair.
  • Activates the nervous system and muscles
  • Resets the nervous system

Story

I came across the Theragun through my quest for finding the most effective way to release the web of fascia that my body has developed over the years from training and athletic endeavours. I have pretty much bought every gadget out there such as the theracane, foam roller, tennis ball, lacrosse ball, peanut ball etc. I came across the theragun online. I was initially skeptical of the machine and figure it was just another over hyped product. After 4 months of debating whether to purchase or not, I finally decided to give it a try. The machine has done wonders for my body in my 2 weeks since I have been using it. It provides me with instant relief from muscle soreness, fatigue and ache. I use the machine prior to any exercise activity and post activity. My body instantly feels better and ready to go. I have also used with my training clients and many have provided great feedback as well. They feel more alive and ready to go upon usage.

If you live with constant aches and pain and have tried some of the other products listed above to no avail, give the theragun machine a try. Checkout www.triggerpoints.net for more information on different areas of the body to locate the trigger points that could be causing your ache and pain.
